for a ceremony of remembrance

 it is good to remember

an Indigenous prayer I love has me facing west

and feeling in myself the imminence of my setting,

and also the hope that my fading will be into a larger glory,

today we honor and celebrate the days of Friends

lost physically to our tomorrows,

but we hope not lost to our memory, to our love,

our community hopes to remember

and to learn to continue to let their presence

live in us and help us to be better

in the ways that they were better,

the future needs the past

to help us live the fullness of the present,

it is good to remember.
