to make whole: the individual and the group

 the individual within community

I spend 45 minutes at a middle school potluck,

a celebration and building of community,

and I spend my time seeing and talking of individual students,

I love the gestalt,

but the whole really exists

so that the individual can find, claim, express its part,

then the whole can arise from the parts,

each part being sure enough of themselves 

to reach out, to connect,

to make the larger, whole.
