early spring and trees

the tree as pointillist

I see trees in early spring
as pointillist painters,
sprinkling dot after dot of a yellow green
upon the gray structure of reaching limbs,

all impressionistic and striving for a whole
more in the gestalt of the viewer
than in the totality yet created for the tree.
