yahoos
as a species we vary between the yahoo and the temperate,
it is hard to not be repelled by the garish and self-indulgent,
I watch vehicles roar into the national park,
blaring "music" so loud that they must need
to write their life in all caps,
with a lot of exclamation marks,
what they have to say
must be of so little value that they must shout it
and hope that volume will mask the lack of substance,
where are we as a species
when so many of us think freedom is license?
that when I flaunt my consumption
it will somehow make me happier?
that the more I have, the better?
and who cares about "the least of these our brethren"?
I do,
I fear when the yahoo is ascendant.
