Joan

she who must be . . .

I work hard to do well
and I have been advantaged
with abilities, a nurturing family,
and open doors before me,

still, there is nothing
as to who I can be
and anything that I do
that can somehow lead
to my deserving partnership with Joan,











who, in her softspoken ways,
shouts of how wonderful a person can be.
